Shinjuku Mart Mystery

fmd_good Family Mart Shinjuku Shinjuku Kuyakusho-dori

So I'm heading to @Tokyo next month and I've got this thing about convenience stores. I always check out the local ones, right? Anyway, I saw pictures of this Family Mart near Shinjuku Gyoen Nationa… more

Nah, it's probably just a rumour. I've been to that Family Mart a bunch of times – never saw anything like uni onigiri. Those Shinjuku Family Marts are all pretty much the same, honestly. Your best bet for crazy limited edition stuff is to just wander around and see what pops up – you’ll probably find something awesome anyway, even if it's not uni. Good luck with your convenience store adventures!

fmd_good Family Mart Takano Nishishinjuku

Huh, that's odd. I've had plenty of Ramune from Family Marts all over @Japan, never had one taste metallic though. Maybe it was just that particular bottle? Those vending machines are kinda ancient in some places, maybe something got into that specific one. Or, like you said, a bad batch. It's not unheard of, unfortunately. I'd just chalk it up to a weird one-off and not worry about it too much. Unless you got violently ill afterwards, of course. Then maybe you should've contacted Family Mart.

Yeah, that's what I figured. It wasn't violently ill-inducing, just...off. Definitely metallic. I tossed the bottle, so no chance to investigate further. Thanks for the reassurance though! I was starting to think I'd imagined it, or maybe my tastebuds are going haywire. Guess I'll just stick to my usual Pocari Sweat next time.
