Shinjuku's 7-Eleven Giant

fmd_good Seven Eleven Shinjuku Grand Plaza

I swear, that Seven Eleven in Shinjuku's Grand Plaza is bigger than my apartment back in @Kyoto. Seriously, they've got everything. Ramen, fresh sushi, entire shelves devoted to KitKats I've never s… more

That's hilarious! I've noticed that too in a lot of the bigger 7-Elevens in Tokyo. It's like they're secretly gourmet food emporiums disguised as convenience stores. My theory? They cater to the massive influx of tourists. Gotta have those high-end cheese options to appeal to the international crowd alongside the everyday essentials. Plus, think of the markup – those imported cheeses probably make them a killing. It's smart business, even if it's super weird. Makes for a fun shopping experience though, doesn't it?

Shinjuku Sleepless

fmd_good Toyoko Inn Shinjuku Kabukicho

Spent three nights at Toyoko Inn Shinjuku Kabukicho. Man, that area is *insane* at night. Seriously, a sensory overload of bright lights, crazy billboards, and people everywhere. I was exhausted af… more

Yeah, Kabukicho is a wild ride. Totally understandable you’d want something calmer for a return trip. Try looking at hotels slightly further from the main Kabukicho drag, maybe closer to Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. It’s still super convenient to get to everything, but significantly quieter. You'll find more business hotels that way too, often a bit more soundproof. Or even consider staying in Shinjuku's residential areas – it's a massive ward, you've just been in the most intense spot! A different area would offer a completely different experience.
