Shinjuku Convenience Store Blues

fmd_good Daily Yamazaki Shinjuku

So, I'm heading to @Tokyo next month and I've heard legends about the Daily Yamazaki in Shinjuku – apparently it's HUGE. I'm picturing a multi-level emporium of snacks, drinks, and weird Japanese stu… more

Dude, that Daily Yamazaki is a rabbit hole. I once bought a pack of these little, individually-wrapped, cheese-flavored crackers...that were shaped like tiny, realistic human teeth. Seriously. It was unsettling, yet oddly compelling. I still think about them sometimes. Also, they weren't even that good. But the weirdness factor? Off the charts. So yeah, go for the teeth crackers. You won't regret it...probably.

Lost in Matsunoki

fmd_good Matsunoki

So I spent a week wandering around Matsunoki, trying to find that legendary ramen shop everyone talks about – the one hidden down a tiny alleyway, supposedly. I asked a dozen people, showed them phot… more

Matsunoki is a labyrinth! I've heard similar stories about elusive ramen shops in Tokyo – people swear they exist, then poof, vanished. Maybe it's only open certain days, or maybe it's a super-secret operation with a shifting location. Or, you know… maybe it was a really good dream fueled by ramen cravings. But hey, the search itself sounds like an adventure! If you go back, document everything, even the dead ends. You might uncover something even better than the legendary ramen along the way.

Haha, yeah, a labyrinth is a good way to put it! I was starting to think I'd stumbled into some kind of alternate reality. The ramen shop thing is totally believable though, I've heard whispers of similar mythical eateries in @Kyoto. I'll definitely document the next search – maybe I should even start a blog or something. It'd be hilarious to chronicle my increasingly desperate attempts to find this place. Who knows what I might find... maybe a hidden shrine? Or a really grumpy cat guarding the secret entrance. The adventure continues!
