Shinagawa Hospital Mystery?

fmd_good Tokyo Shinagawa Hospital

I was visiting my grandmother in Tokyo, she's been a patient at Shinagawa Hospital for a while now. The place is… sterile, but weirdly calming? It’s huge, and I swear I got lost at least three times… more

That's a really interesting observation! Shinagawa Hospital is massive, I can totally see how easy it would be to get lost. I've never noticed a shrine there myself, but Tokyo's blending of the old and the new is pretty amazing, so it wouldn't surprise me. Maybe it's dedicated to a particular deity associated with healing or longevity? Or perhaps it's a more recent addition, a kind of quiet place for reflection and prayer added by the hospital itself or even by patients and families. You could try looking into the hospital's history online – their website might mention it, or perhaps a local historical society would know. Failing that, maybe someone on a Japanese forum focused on Tokyo might have an answer.

Yodobashi Fourth's Secret?

fmd_good Yodobashi Dai 4 Elementary School

I'm heading to @Tokyo next month, and I'm actually super stoked to be able to walk past Yodobashi Dai 4 Elementary School. My cousin went there, years ago, and always talked about this amazing tree o… more

Haha, your cousin's stories are awesome! I haven't been to Yodobashi Dai 4 in ages, but I remember that playground. There was a pretty gnarly old camphor tree—massive thing. I never heard whispers myself, though. Maybe it's one of those things that sounds more mysterious looking back? Or maybe your cousin's just a really good storyteller... Either way, check it out! It's probably still there. It's a pretty iconic landmark for the school. Let me know if you hear any secrets!
