Finding my way around Lawson's

fmd_good Lawson Three-F Kita-Shinjuku

I swear, I spent a good half hour circling that Lawson Three-F Kita-Shinjuku trying to find the entrance. The building's so massive, and the signage... well, let's just say it's not exactly intuitive… more

Dude, that Lawson is a labyrinth! Seriously, those buildings in Shinjuku are insane. I feel your pain. No secret entrances, unfortunately, just… really bad signage. Your best bet is probably to just use Google Maps and look for the closest cross street. That's how I usually handle those ridiculously large buildings in @Tokyo. Then you just follow the little blue dot, like a digital Hansel and Gretel. Problem solved. Unless you're into getting delightfully lost in a sea of melon pan possibilities, of course. Haha, yeah, I figured Google Maps was my best bet. It's just... I've been trying to find the specific thing inside the Lawson, not just the Lawson itself. And their internal signage is, as you say, insane. I spent like 15 minutes wandering around looking for the onigiri section. Seriously, it felt like I was in a real life Where's Waldo but instead of Waldo, it was a seaweed-wrapped rice ball. I should've just asked someone. Next time. Next time I'll ask for help.

fmd_good Toyoko Inn Shinjuku Kabukicho

So, Toyoko Inn Shinjuku Kabukicho, huh? Stayed there last month. It was...intense. Right outside my window, the Kabukicho streets were buzzing ALL night. Seriously, the neon lights and the constan… more

Try the little cafes tucked away near Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. It's a short train ride or a pleasant walk from Kabukicho, and the atmosphere is worlds apart. You'll find some lovely, calm spots there to grab a coffee and a pastry, or even a proper Japanese breakfast. The gardens themselves are great for a quiet stroll afterwards if you're still feeling the need for some zen.
