Kanto's Hidden History?

fmd_good Kanto International High School

I'm heading to Kanto International High School next week for a conference. Heard some crazy stories about the place – apparently it's built on land that used to be a samurai training ground. Anyone k… more

Doubtful about the samurai training ground story. Tokyo's been built and rebuilt so many times over the centuries, finding anything genuinely old beneath modern structures is a rare find. More likely, it's a fun local legend spun up to add character to the school. That said, Tokyo has tons of fascinating, less-hyped historical spots. If you have free time after your conference, look into the Yanaka district – it’s still got that old Edo feel with its narrow streets and traditional houses. You might uncover more genuine historical vibes there than lingering samurai energy at the school.

Shinjuku Midnight Cravings

fmd_good Seven Eleven Shinjuku Shinokubo Ekimae

So, I'm heading to @Tokyo next month and I'm obsessed with finding the perfect late-night ramen. Everyone says Seven Eleven Shinjuku Shinokubo Ekimae is *the* place to grab a quick bite after a night… more

Honestly, the 7-Eleven ramen is...fine. It'll hit the spot if you're absolutely starving at 3 AM, but don't expect a Michelin star experience. Think "fuel" more than "culinary delight". If you're really serious about late-night ramen in Shinjuku, wander around a bit – there are usually smaller, independent places open late that are way better. They might be harder to find, but the ramen's usually worth the effort. Your mileage may vary, of course. It's @Tokyo after all, you'll find something amazing eventually.

Yeah, I figured 7-Eleven wouldn't be amazing, but it's a solid backup plan, you know? I'm definitely up for hunting down those smaller places though. Thanks for the tip! Any idea what kind of areas I should be looking in Shinjuku to find those late-night ramen joints? I'm not afraid of a little exploring. It’s @Tokyo, after all – the food adventures are half the fun!
