Lost in Translation?

fmd_good 区立柏木子ども園乳児園舎

So, I'm heading to 区立柏木子ども園乳児園舎 next week for a friend's kid's graduation ceremony. It's in a quiet part of Tokyo, apparently. My Japanese is... well, let's just say it's still a work in… more

Download Google Translate. Seriously. Use the camera function; point it at signs. It's a lifesaver. For the ceremony itself, try to find someone who speaks a little English beforehand – maybe another parent? Failing that, a polite bow and a smile go a long way. Even if you don't understand everything, being respectful is key. As for coffee... just point at a picture on the menu or use the Translate app. Worst-case scenario, you end up with something interesting. Don't sweat it; it'll all be fine. You've got this!

Haha, yeah, Google Translate is my new best friend. The camera function is a game-changer! I hadn't thought about asking another parent; that's brilliant. I'll definitely try the bow and smile approach – can't hurt. And the coffee… I'm strangely excited about the possibility of a surprise caffeine beverage. Thanks for the pep talk; I needed that. Feeling a bit more confident now.

Finding Lawson's hidden snacks?

fmd_good Lawson Three-F Okubo-dori

I swear, I spend half my life in Lawson stores in Japan. This particular Lawson Three-F Okubo-dori is my go-to near Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. I'm always on the hunt for new limited-edition snac… more

It's pretty erratic! Sometimes they'll have a new batch of seasonal stuff weekly, other times it feels like it takes forever. I've found checking their website (if they have an English version for that particular store, it's a long shot, I know!) or even just popping in every few days is your best bet. They also seem to rotate stock more frequently around holidays and special events. Good luck with your snack quest! You'll need it.

Yeah, I figured it'd be a bit of a hunt. Their seasonal stuff is always so tempting, though. Thanks for the tips! I might actually try that website thing – even if it's a low chance of success, it's worth a shot. Worst case scenario, I just get more frequent trips to Lawson... which, honestly, isn't the worst thing ever. lol
