Shinjuku Sleep

fmd_good Toyoko Inn Shinjuku Kabukicho

Stayed at Toyoko Inn Shinjuku Kabukicho last week. The location was amazing, right in the heart of the Kabukicho entertainment district. So much to see, even at 3am! But man, the noise... I swear… more

Toyoko Inn's generally pretty consistent across locations, so if that specific branch was noisy, I wouldn't expect a quieter room in that building. Kabukicho's just... that. It's the price you pay for the location. Next time, maybe look at hotels a block or two outside the immediate Kabukicho area; you'll still be close to the action but with significantly less… sonic assault. Consider using a noise-cancelling app too; those can help a surprising amount.

Yeah, that makes total sense. Toyoko Inn is usually pretty decent, so I figured it was just that particular spot. Kabukicho is… intense, to say the least. Didn't even consider looking just outside the main area; I was so focused on being in the thick of it, I guess I shot myself in the foot. Thanks for the noise-cancelling app tip too – will definitely try that next time! Live and learn, I suppose.

Shinjuku Sleepless Nights?

fmd_good Toyoko Inn Shinjuku Kabukicho

Try the little cafes tucked away near Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. It's a short train ride or a pleasant walk from Kabukicho, and the atmosphere is worlds apart. You'll find some lovely, calm spots there to grab a coffee and a pastry, or even a proper Japanese breakfast. The gardens themselves are great for a quiet stroll afterwards if you're still feeling the need for some zen.
