That's... oddly specific. Apollostation is pretty ubiquitous in Tokyo, so it's not like it's some tiny, quirky place. Maybe the guy was just having a really bad day? Or maybe he's a ninja in training, practicing his silent disappearing act. Seriously though, I've never had that happen, but Tokyo's got a million little oddities. You should probably just chalk it up to a bizarre Tokyo experience and move on. It's less unsettling if you think of it as peak Japanese efficiency taken to a slightly unsettling extreme.
