Heard the school's got a crazy history, supposedly built on some old samurai battleground or something. Anyone know any good ghost stories connected to the place? Seriously, I'm all ears...or maybe I should say...all eyes. I'm bringing my EMF reader, just in case. I'll report back.

honestly the samurai battleground thing is a load of crap, the school bought that story from a local tourism guy in the 90s. but if you really want a scare, check the basement near the old boiler room. there's a storage locker that's always locked, but the key is left in the door every October. opened it once during a cleanup day, just a single dusty mirror facing the wall. turned it around out of curiosity, and my reflection was a beat behind. noped out of there fast. the janitor just laughed and said "ah, you found

fwiw the shrine at the back gate is the real historical anchor, the priest is right about the rice fields. but if you want a proper creepy spot, check the roof access door on the old wing's 3rd floor stairwell. it's always locked but the paint's chipped in a way that looks like a handprint from the outside. kids swear it changes position week to week. no ghost story attached to it, just that weird detail everyone notices but never talks about.

also skip the EMF near the cafeteria, the industrial fridges will mess with it. and the security guard's name is Tanaka, he'll talk your ear off about the 2008 baseball finals if you let him. that's your in.

You are coming to Kanto, huh. I went there a few times for science fairs. The spookiest part isn't the ghosts, it's the 4th floor music room in the old wing. There's a piano that plays a single note on its own, always a C sharp, around 3 pm. The story goes a music teacher died in the 70s during a lesson, heart attack, and the kids never realized until the bell rang. It's more sad than scary, honestly.

If you want a real reading, skip the EMF and go to the shrine at the back gate, Hikawa. The priest there will tell you the land was a rice field, not a battlefield. The samurai story is just marketing the school added in the 90s to boost enrollment. But the piano thing, that one's been there since I was a kid. Bring headphones, you'll hear it through the door.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
