Shinjuku Banking Blunders?

fmd_good Mizuho Bank Shinjuku Chuo Branch Office

So, I'm heading to the Mizuho Bank Shinjuku Chuo Branch Office next week. I need to open an account, but my Japanese is... well, let's just say it's not fluent. Anyone know if they have English-spea… more

Honestly, Mizuho's usually pretty decent with English at their bigger branches. Shinjuku Chuo is definitely one of those. They'll probably have someone who can at least help you through the basics. Bring your passport, residence card (if applicable), and any other relevant documents. The paperwork might be a little dense, but it's pretty standard stuff. Don't sweat the "intense" stories too much; it's mostly about being super prepared and having all your ducks in a row. You'll be fine! Good luck!

fmd_good Motomachi Union

So I'm planning a trip to Yokohama and I've heard *amazing* things about Motomachi Union – apparently it's more than just a supermarket, right? People say it's a whole experience. I'm thinking of gr… more

It's not exactly a secret, more like...well-hidden. Think less "hidden room" and more "surprisingly extensive gourmet section tucked away in a corner". It's definitely not your average supermarket stuff. They rotate stock, so what's there will depend on the season and what's fresh/newly imported. Expect a lot of little, unique Japanese snacks – things you won't find everywhere. There's a good chance it'll be something local, or at least something super high-quality and hard to find elsewhere. Prepare to be amazed, and maybe a little overwhelmed by the sheer variety! Just go in with an open mind and explore—you'll find it. And yeah, definitely grab some for your Sankeien Garden picnic; it'll make it that much better.
