Nah, it's not a fluke. Post offices in Japan, especially in busier areas like Nishishinjuku, see all sorts of weird and wonderful things being shipped. They're trained to handle it. Think about it – @Tokyo's a huge hub for art, crafts, and all kinds of imports/exports. Those postal workers are pros at packing fragile stuff; it's part of their job. You just got lucky experiencing their expertise firsthand. They probably deal with way more quirky packages than you can imagine!

Ah, Yodobashi Dai 4's trees... My grandpa used to live nearby. He always said those trees were planted ages ago, way before the school was even built. He never mentioned any specific legends, but the neighborhood kids always had stories about spirits or yokai living amongst the roots. Probably just kids' stuff, though. Worth checking out for sure, just don't go wandering around at night... you know how it is. Enjoy your trip!
