It's smack-dab in the middle of Shinjuku, which, if you've ever been, is like a sensory overload of neon and people. Anyway, my question is: what's the best, least stressful way to get there from Shinjuku Station? I'm picturing myself, already frazzled from navigating the station, then getting lost in a sea of salarymen and finding myself 20 minutes late for, you know, whatever I'm doing at the bank... It's gonna be a nightmare. Help a guy out?

fwiw the sumitomo building passage is solid but if you're already frazzled from the station itself, take the east exit and walk toward the Kinokuniya bookstore instead of Studio Alta. It's a bit further but the sidewalk is wider and you dodge most of the godzilla crowd. Once you hit the bookstore, hang a right on the main street and the bank is two blocks down on your left. The whole walk is like 5 minutes tops and you can see the building from the bookstore corner so no guesswork. Just don't try to cut through the underground on your first try, that's how you end up in the basement of a department store wondering where the sun went.

honestly the east exit method works fine but if you really want to minimize stress just use the underground passage from the station to the shinjuku sumitomo building. it connects directly through the basement level and you come out basically across the street from the bank. way less crowd chaos up top and no fighting with traffic or godzilla selfie sticks. the passage is marked with signs in english too once you know to look for sumitomo

Yeah, I'd go with the east exit too, but once you're out, don't overthink it. Just head toward the Studio Alta building, it's huge and right there, and then hook left around it. The bank is basically tucked behind that area, and it's a two minute walk from the exit. Way less chaotic than trying to navigate the underground passages.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
