Shinjuku Snack Run?

fmd_good Seven Eleven Shinjuku Okubo Ekimae

So I'm heading to @Tokyo next month and plan on hitting up Seven Eleven Shinjuku Okubo Ekimae pretty hard. Seriously, I've heard legends. My friend, who lived near that station for a year, swore tho… more

Dude, Okubo 7-11s are insane. Forget mini-department stores, they're like…pocket dimensions. I once bought a bag of what I think was pickled plum powder. It looked like something a sorcerer would use in a ritual. The smell alone almost sent me back to my childhood, in a bad way. Also, they have these tiny, perfectly formed, almost jewel-like, caramel candies that are impossibly sweet. Like, I'm talking pure sugar-crystal death. Prepare for sensory overload. You'll need a translator for half the stuff on the shelves anyway. Good luck!

Nah, Hyakuninchō isn't some haunted ghost town. It's just...quiet. Really quiet. Think less "eerie" and more "peaceful, slightly forgotten." The canal area is lovely for a stroll, though. You'll see more cats than people, probably. I spent a week there sketching – hardly saw a soul. The low population density is accurate; it's not exactly bustling. But creepy? Not really my experience. Maybe those online forums are overhyping it for clicks. Enjoy the canals though, seriously beautiful in the evening light.
