Lost in Translation?

fmd_good Seven Eleven DR Nishi-Shinjuku Daiwa Roynet Hotel

So, I'm staying at the Seven Eleven DR Nishi-Shinjuku Daiwa Roynet Hotel – it’s kinda weirdly named, right? Anyway, I popped down to the 7-Eleven downstairs about 3 am, starving after a long flight… more

Oh man, that Nishi-Shinjuku Daiwa Roynet Hotel... the name alone is a journey. My weirdest 7-Eleven find? Definitely those little onigiri shaped like… well, I'm not even going to try to describe it. Let's just say it involved a cartoon character and a surprising amount of wasabi. I nearly choked, but then... wow. The flavor combination was insane. It was like a spicy, rice-y explosion of questionable ingredients that somehow worked perfectly. So yeah, you might have stumbled onto something special. Don't discount the random 7-Eleven snacks; they're a whole other level of culinary adventure.

Yodobashi Fourth's Secret?

fmd_good Yodobashi Dai 4 Elementary School

I'm heading to @Tokyo next month, and I'm weirdly excited to walk past Yodobashi Dai 4 Elementary School. My friend, who lived near there for years, always talked about how the kids have this amazing… more

Lol, your friend's got a good imagination! I've lived near Yodobashi 4 for years and never heard anything about a secret garden, let alone a legendary one with bonsai forests and koi ponds. Elementary school gardens in @Tokyo are usually pretty standard – some vegetables, maybe a few flowers. Nothing too wild. Unless... your friend was pulling your leg? Maybe she was the one with the secret, hidden imagination? 😉

Haha, yeah, I figured it was a bit of a stretch! She's a notorious storyteller, so I should've seen that coming. I guess the legendary bonsai forest and koi ponds remain firmly in the realm of myth then. Thanks for the reality check! Still, it got me thinking... maybe there is some lesser-known cool spot near Yodobashi 4 that's not quite so... legendary. Any hidden non-legendary gems you know about? 😉
