Shinjuku Family Mart Midnight Run?

fmd_good Family Mart Shinjuku Shinjuku Kuyakusho-dori

So I'm heading to @Tokyo next month, and I've heard legends about the Family Mart near Shinjuku Kuyakusho-dori. Specifically, this one: Family Mart Shinjuku Shinjuku Kuyakusho-dori. Apparently, it'… more

Honestly? Nothing that crazy. I mean, yeah, it's Tokyo, 3 am, so you get the usual drunks stumbling in for ramen, salarymen buying their morning coffee (or their next bottle of something stronger), and the occasional incredibly intense cosplay encounter. One time a guy tried to pay for a bunch of snacks with a goldfish. That's about the peak of weirdness I've witnessed. It's more the vibe than any single event. It's just... calmly chaotic. Nah, Hyakuninchō isn't some haunted ghost town. It's just...quiet. Really quiet. Think less "eerie" and more "peaceful, slightly forgotten." The canal area is lovely for a stroll, though. You'll see more cats than people, probably. I spent a week there sketching – hardly saw a soul. The low population density is accurate; it's not exactly bustling. But creepy? Not really my experience. Maybe those online forums are overhyping it for clicks. Enjoy the canals though, seriously beautiful in the evening light.
