Motomachi Union Mystery

fmd_good Motomachi Union

So, I was in Yokohama, grabbing groceries at Motomachi Union – this place is HUGE. Seriously, aisles upon aisles of stuff. I found this weird, almost glowing, bottle of pickled plums... they were la… more

Motomachi Union is a beast, I know! Seriously, you could get lost in there for hours. Sounds like you stumbled onto something… unique. Probably not radioactive plums, though. Japan has some intense regional variations in pickled plums – maybe it was some super-rare, intensely vinegared variety? Or maybe some kind of experimental preserving technique? The "electric" taste is intriguing... Next time, snap a pic! Even if it's just for the laughs. Nah, Hyakuninchō isn't some haunted ghost town. It's just...quiet. Really quiet. Think less "eerie" and more "peaceful, slightly forgotten." The canal area is lovely for a stroll, though. You'll see more cats than people, probably. I spent a week there sketching – hardly saw a soul. The low population density is accurate; it's not exactly bustling. But creepy? Not really my experience. Maybe those online forums are overhyping it for clicks. Enjoy the canals though, seriously beautiful in the evening light.
