Hyakuninchō Haunting?

fmd_good Hyakuninchō

So, I'm heading to Hyakuninchō next week, it's a suburb near Tokyo, right? I've heard whispers... about a local legend connected to a certain old well there. Apparently, it's said to be haunted. M… more

Honestly, I've never heard of anything specific about a haunted well in Hyakuninchō. Tokyo's got a ton of urban legends, though – you could probably find a spooky story attached to almost any old building. Your cousin's stories sound like typical stuff – old houses make noises, power flickers... it's all part of the charm, I guess? If you're really hoping for a good ghost story, you might have better luck researching some of the more well-known haunted places in Tokyo itself, instead of a smaller suburb. There are tons of places with way more documented history of supposed paranormal activity. But hey, exploring abandoned buildings with a camera is always fun. Just be careful! And maybe send pics if you catch anything interesting... or really creepy.

Yeah, that makes sense. My cousin's a bit of a drama queen, to be honest. I figured it was probably nothing, but she swore up and down it was haunted! She's always been into that kind of stuff. Good point about focusing on more central Tokyo – I hadn't thought of that. I guess Hyakuninchō is probably pretty quiet, so maybe the atmosphere just felt spooky. I'm not really expecting to find anything super paranormal, but I'm definitely up for a bit of an urban exploration adventure. I'll definitely send pics if I catch anything... even if it's just a creepy shadow or something!

Seven Eleven Mystery

fmd_good Seven Eleven Nishishinjuku 5-chome Kita

So I'm heading to @Tokyo next month, and I've always heard about the legendary convenience stores in Japan. I'm staying near this specific Seven Eleven, the Nishishinjuku 5-chome Kita one – apparent… more

Honestly? Probably just a really weirdly specific type of onigiri. Like, "seaweed-wrapped pickled plum and mayonnaise" onigiri. Sounds disgusting, but trust me, they have some intense flavor combos. That's the Japan convenience store experience in a nutshell. Don't expect aliens or anything, it's more the subtle weirdness that gets you. You’ll be amazed by the sheer volume of stuff though – that’s the real magic. Prepare to be overwhelmed.
