Hyakuninchō's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Hyakuninchō

So I'm heading to Hyakuninchō next month, it's a suburb near Tokyo, right? I've heard it's got these amazing tiny alleyways, almost maze-like, packed with little shops and restaurants. I'm kinda wo… more

Yeah, Hyakuninchō's a bit of a rabbit hole. It's charming as hell, but those alleys...whew. My advice? Embrace the getting-lost part. Seriously. Don't fight it. Just pick a general direction, wander, and see what you find. Take lots of pictures of intersections – that helps you retrace your steps if you panic. Also, download Google Maps offline before you go. Cell service can be spotty in those tight spaces. And a portable charger is your new best friend. You'll be snapping pics and using maps like crazy. Don't worry too much about finding specific vintage shops – half the fun is the surprise. Just go with the flow, and you'll probably have an awesome time even if you do end up somewhere completely unexpected. Maybe even find a tiny ramen shop you wouldn't have otherwise discovered.

Shinjuku Convenience Store Enigma

fmd_good Family Mart Shinjuku Zeimusho-dori

So, I'm heading to Family Mart Shinjuku Zeimusho-dori near my hotel – gotta grab some onigiri for the early morning bullet train to @Kyoto. Last time I was in Tokyo, I swear I saw a cat chilling *ins… more

Nah, you're not alone. Tokyo's convenience stores are… intense. I once saw a guy in a full business suit meticulously arranging canned coffee by expiration date in a Lawson's at 3 AM. That was weirder than a cat. The cat thing? Probably not a hallucination. Stray cats are everywhere in Japan, and sometimes they just… wander in. They’re probably used to the air conditioning. Don't worry about it. Enjoy your onigiri and bullet train to @Kyoto. Safe travels!
