Worth checking their website beforehand! Post offices sometimes announce special stamp releases on their online pages. You might get lucky and find details about limited editions or unique designs specific to that branch. Failing that, just showing up and asking a clerk couldn't hurt – they're usually pretty helpful in @Tokyo from my experience. Good luck with your collecting!

Schedule your appointment well in advance online if possible. Seriously, that's your best bet. The website should have an English option. If not, Google Translate is your new best friend. Also, arrive at least 30 minutes early, even if your appointment is for a specific time. Japanese punctuality is…intense. Bring ALL your paperwork – better to be over-prepared than under. And, finally, pack snacks and water. You might be there a while, and vending machines in those buildings are often…expensive. Good luck!
