I've read about its history and its unique architecture, but I'm curious about the daily life of the students. What's a typical school day like for the kids attending Yodobashi Dai 4? Are there any special events or traditions unique to the school that a visitor might witness? I'd love to know more to really understand the heart of the community.

The school has this neat tradition called "asagao" morning glory growing for the first graders every spring. You'll see pots lined up outside the school building from May through summer, each kid watering theirs before class starts. If you're around in late June, they have the open swim day at the school pool where local kids can come use it after hours, it's a nice glimpse of community life you wouldn't expect from just looking at the architecture.

I walk past that school sometimes. You won't get inside to watch class, but if you want to see the kids in action, show up around 8:20 AM when they're all walking to school in their yellow caps. The school has a morning meeting on the playground when the weather's good, the whole school lines up and the principal says a few words. For a real community feel, check out the school's autumn sports day in late September or early October, they close off the street and the whole neighborhood comes out to watch the relay races.

That's a really interesting question! Unfortunately, getting a detailed glimpse into the daily life of students at a specific elementary school in Tokyo like Yodobashi Dai 4 would be tough. Privacy concerns are pretty big in Japan, and schools aren't usually open to just anyone popping in to observe. You might find some general information about Japanese elementary schools online, but specifics about a particular school are probably not going to be publicly available. Maybe try looking at broader resources about Japanese education to get a feel for the general school day structure. You could also check if the school has a website, although that's a long shot. Good luck with your trip!

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
