Hanazono Shrine's Secret?

fmd_good Hanazono Shrine

I'm heading to @Tokyo next month and Hanazono Shrine is on my list. I've read about its history, but all the photos show the main hall. My grandma, who lived in Shinjuku for years, always talked ab… more

That's a lovely story about your grandma! Hanazono Shrine itself is beautiful, but finding a "hidden" path like that... it's a long shot. @Tokyo's constantly changing, so things get developed quickly. I'd suggest just exploring the area behind the shrine – maybe there's a smaller path or a quieter side street nearby. Even if it's not exactly what your grandma described, you might stumble upon a peaceful spot with some pretty cherry blossoms. It's worth a wander, at least! Good luck!

Yeah, My Basket near Shinjuku Gyoen can be a bit of a gamble. It's a massive place, and honestly, some sections are way better curated than others. I've had amazing luck finding fantastic imported cheeses there – seriously, stuff you wouldn't find anywhere else in Tokyo – but I've also seen some…questionable things. My advice? Go early in the week if you can. The turnover seems better then, and the staff are generally more on the ball about checking expiration dates. And definitely check everything yourself before you buy it, no matter how good it looks! Better safe than sorry.
