Shinjuku Banking Blunder?

I felt like an ant in a massive, perfectly polished marble anthill. The staff were polite, but the whole process felt...slow. Incredibly slow. I swear I saw a snail leave a trail of slime faster than the transaction went through. Seriously, is the paperwork for international transfers written in hieroglyphics or something? My question is: What's the fastest way to do an international transfer at the Tokyo Credit Association? Any pro tips from fellow banking sufferers?

the real shortcut is setting up a recurring transfer template in online banking even if you only send once. once it's saved, next time you just log in, pick the template, adjust the amount, and confirm. takes maybe 5 minutes total. also, the shinjuku branch's basement has a coin locker area where the wifi signal is actually stronger than the main floor, so if you get stuck waiting for a manager stamp, go down there and use the app to pre-fill the next form while you wait. saves you standing in line again

fwiw the online banking thing works but only if you've already got a bankbook with the online service activated. if you havent done that yet, you're stuck at the branch for setup too. one thing nobody mentions is that the Shinjuku branch has this weird rule where international wires over 1 million yen need a manager to stamp it twice, which adds another 10 minutes of waiting for them to find the manager. if your transfer is under that, tell the teller upfront and theyll skip that step. also, theres a Seven Bank ATM in the basement of the Shinjuku branch that can do some international transfers if you have their specific debit card, way faster than the counter but limited to like 10 currencies

I've noticed a lot of people recommend online banking, but there's a catch with the Tokyo Credit Association specifically. Their online platform has a daily limit of 500,000 yen for international transfers unless you apply for a higher tier at the branch first. If you're moving more than that, you're stuck going in person no matter what. What I do is split the transfer into two separate days online if it's under a million, which avoids the branch entirely and the manager stamp hassle someone mentioned. For the Shinjuku branch specifically, the basement Seven Bank ATM can handle transfers in USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, CAD, CHF, NZD, SGD, HKD, and KRW, but the exchange rate is about 0.5% worse than the counter rate. Worth knowing if you're in a hurry and the difference doesn't matter to you.

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
