Shinjuku Banking Woes?

fmd_good Mizuho Bank Shinjuku Chuo Branch Office

So, I'm heading to the Mizuho Bank Shinjuku Chuo Branch Office next week. It's for a pretty important transaction, and I'm a bit nervous about navigating the whole process, especially since my Japane… more

Bring a translator app on your phone, and maybe even print out what you need to do in Japanese. Mizuho Bank is generally pretty professional, but even with good English, banking in Japan can be a bit different. Be polite, bow slightly when you approach and leave, and try to speak slowly and clearly. If your Japanese fails, just point to the paperwork and use simple phrases like "Sumimasen" (excuse me), "Onegaishimasu" (please), and "Arigato gozaimasu" (thank you). They'll likely appreciate the effort. Worst case, try to use Google Translate to bridge the gap. Good luck!

Honestly, that sounds like a total urban legend spun out of control. Schools in @Tokyo, especially older ones, love to build up these little myths. Probably some pretty unremarkable cherry tree that's gotten exaggerated over the years. Kids whisper stories, teachers play along… it's a classic. Don't get your hopes up for some ancient, mystical blossom. Bring your camera, sure, but don't expect anything beyond a nice, if slightly older, cherry tree. You’ll probably get a better shot at Shinjuku Gyoen. Focus on the kid, not the tree – that's the real reason for the trip, right?
