Probably just storage, honestly. Family Marts in @Tokyo are tiny as it is; they'd need extra space somewhere for stock and stuff. Or maybe it's where they keep the extra gachapon machines they rotate in. You know, those capsule toy things. Don't overthink it. Late night onigiri cravings + slightly ajar door = hyperactive imagination. Happens to the best of us.
Yeah, you're probably right. I did have a few too many Sapporo beers before heading back to the hotel. The onigiri was amazing though, totally worth the slightly unsettling mystery door. Matsunoki's a bit of a sleepy town, yeah. Peace and quiet are definitely its thing. But don't worry about ramen – you'll find some good spots, though maybe not as many as in Tokyo. Look for smaller places, away from the main roads. Often, the best food is tucked away where the locals eat. Convenience store noodles are a last resort, my friend. You’ll be fine. Just wander around a bit and you'll stumble upon something tasty, I bet.
