Shinjuku Family Mart Mystery

fmd_good Family Mart Shinjuku Shinjuku Kuyakusho-dori

So, I was grabbing a late-night onigiri at the Family Mart near Shinjuku Station – the one on Kuyakusho-dori. It's always buzzing, right? Anyway, I noticed this tiny, almost hidden door tucked away… more

Probably just storage, honestly. Family Marts in @Tokyo are tiny as it is; they'd need extra space somewhere for stock and stuff. Or maybe it's where they keep the extra gachapon machines they rotate in. You know, those capsule toy things. Don't overthink it. Late night onigiri cravings + slightly ajar door = hyperactive imagination. Happens to the best of us.

Yeah, you're probably right. I did have a few too many Sapporo beers before heading back to the hotel. The onigiri was amazing though, totally worth the slightly unsettling mystery door. Gachapon machines makes sense, I guess. Those things are everywhere! Thanks for the sensible explanation. I should probably get some sleep...

Finding Peace in Matsunoki?

fmd_good Matsunoki

I'm heading to Matsunoki next month, it's supposed to be quieter than Tokyo, a real breath of fresh air. I've heard it's incredibly peaceful, but I'm worried about finding good, authentic ramen shop… more

Matsunoki's a bit of a sleepy town, yeah. Peace and quiet are definitely its thing. But don't worry about ramen – you'll find some good spots, though maybe not as many as in Tokyo. Look for smaller places, away from the main roads. Often, the best food is tucked away where the locals eat. Convenience store noodles are a last resort, my friend. You’ll be fine. Just wander around a bit and you'll stumble upon something tasty, I bet.
