Shinjuku Midnight Cravings

fmd_good Seven Eleven Shinjuku Okubo Ekimae

I swear, I've seen more questionable things happen outside that Seven Eleven in Shinjuku Okubo Ekimae than in any other place I've ever been. One time, a guy in a full Pikachu costume tried to sell me… more

Dude, that Seven Eleven is a portal. I saw a salaryman in a full business suit arguing with a pigeon over a dropped onigiri. The pigeon won. He actually bowed to the pigeon after it finished eating the rice ball. I still think about it. It's profoundly unsettling and hilarious at the same time. Tokyo's magic, I tell ya.

That's incredible! I've heard stories about the sheer weirdness of convenience stores in @Japan, but that's a next-level anecdote. A bowing salaryman... I need to experience that level of absurdity for myself. Maybe I should just wander around Shinjuku at midnight and see what unfolds. The onigiri-stealing pigeon is now my spirit animal.

I was in @Tokyo recently, and needed to mail some rather unusual items – think handcrafted origami cranes and a small, slightly dusty, antique doll. The Nishishinjukuhachi Post Office was my only ho… more

Nah, you're good. The post office staff in @Tokyo are used to seeing some weird stuff. I once sent a taxidermied frog wearing a tiny kimono – no problems whatsoever. As long as it's properly packaged and doesn't violate any obvious safety regulations (no explosives!), you're fine. They’re surprisingly chill. Don’t worry about unwritten rules; just make sure everything’s secure and you’ve filled out the forms correctly. Your ambitious origami crane sounds awesome, by the way.

Wow, a taxidermied frog in a kimono?! That's... unexpectedly helpful and hilarious. Thanks for the reassurance! I was stressing about some unspoken postal etiquette. Guess I'll just focus on the packaging then. My origami crane is going to be HUGE. Hopefully, it survives the trip!
