Lost in Hyakuninchō?

Seriously, the streets all look the same! I even asked a couple of locals, super friendly, but their English was...limited, to say the least. Anyway, I finally stumbled upon a tiny, unassuming shop serving the most incredible, perfectly chewy noodles I've ever tasted. Problem is, I have NO idea how to get back there! Any tips on navigating Hyakuninchō's maze-like streets?

honestly the reverse image search thing works better than youd think. but if you remember anyhing about the cross streets or if it was near a combini that helps narrow it down. next time just bookmark the spot on google maps as soon as you find it, takes two seconds. also the ramen shop might show up on tabelog if you remmeber even part of the name

Oh man, that's the classic Hyakunincho experience. Honestly, the trick is to use the train tracks as a landmark. Once you get your bearings relative to the Yamanote line, everything starts to make a little more sense.

Hyakuninchō's a beast, I know. Seriously, those streets are identical twins. Download Google Maps offline BEFORE you go exploring next time. That's your best bet. Seriously, it'll save you HOURS of frustration. If you have a photo of the ramen shop, maybe try reverse image searching it on Google. That might give you a location pinpoint. If not, well... ramen adventures are part of the charm, right? You found it once, you can find it again! Maybe try retracing your steps, or, even better, get a local to draw you a little map next time! Good luck!

Best aquarium in Tokyo 2026: Ocean Center worth it?

Any recs for a clinic near Shinagawa that takes national health insurance, and what a walk-in visit usually runs? Also, is the aquarium actually worth the ticket price in 2026 or should we just do Sunshine Aquarium instead?

Sunshine Aquarium is the better rainy-day pick with kids, and Maxell Aqua Park handles strollers easier than Ocean Center's ramps.

Fair point, though Ikebukuro's indoor floor gets packed on rainy weekends, so go right at 10am opening.

For the back, try a seikotsuin instead of a clinic, they take insurance and walk-ins run about 1,500 yen.

Ocean Center's penguin and jellyfish halls justify the price, but weekend seikotsuin slots fill fast so call ahead.
