I've heard stories... whispers, really, about a hidden room, something about a lost library or maybe even a secret society from the old days. Is there any truth to these rumors? I'm hoping to maybe stumble upon something interesting during my visit. It's not on the official tour, of course. Any insider info would be amazing! I'm pretty good at finding obscure things, you know?

honestly i think you're chasing a ghost story but that doesn't mean it's not fun to poke around. kanto international high school has a weird layout because it was built in stages over like 50 years so there are definitely some odd corners and staircases that lead nowhere. i'd check the old gymnasium annex on the east side of campus, it's usually unlocked during club hours and has this basement area that feels kinda forgotten. just be chill about it and act like you're waiting for someone, security is pretty lax if you're not being obvious

Hah, Kanto International High School, huh? Sounds like you've got a good nose for this kind of thing. I've never heard anything about a hidden room or secret society, but old schools in @Japan often have surprisingly quirky bits tucked away, unused classrooms, forgotten storage closets... stuff like that. Your best bet is probably just to wander around the grounds after the school day is over, if that's even allowed. Be respectful, of course. Maybe you'll find something interesting. Don't expect anything too dramatic, though. It's a high school, not Hogwarts. Good luck with your search, let us know what you find!

fwiw i think the lost library thing is from some old drama that filmed there in the 90s, might be confusing fiction with reality. still, the school has this weird little courtyard behind the admin building that most people miss, it's got this mossy stone bench that looks like it's been there forever. just walk in through the main gate like you belong and no one'll bother you

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
