Is this place haunted?

It was eerily quiet there, even though it was rush hour outside. Felt a cold draft, even though the windows were closed, and heard what sounded like faint whispering. A nurse told me a story about a former patient, a little girl, who apparently still wanders the halls at night. Spooky stuff. The place itself is modern and clean, but that old wing... gives me the creeps. I should've asked about the girl's story properly. Maybe it was just the late shift getting to me...

You should ask one of the older volunteers, like Mrs. Tanaka who's been there since the 80s. She knows the full story about that girl, apparently she used to help out at the gift shop counter when she was well enough. The cold draft is strongest near the doorway to the old pediatrics ward, which is exactly where her room was. I'd go back during a day shift and ask around, the daytime staff are usually more willing to talk about it.

honestly that old wing has been closed since like the late 90s, i remember my grandma talking about it when they built the new one. the story about the little girl is pretty well known around here, she was in for a long stay and apparently loved the gift shop. some of the night nurses still leave small toys by the door, just in case. i'd say trust your gut, that draft is real and it's not just the AC

Yeah, old hospital wings are always creepy. That hushed quiet...brrrr. Hospitals hold a lot of energy, good and bad. A little girl's spirit lingering? Not entirely outside the realm of possibility, I guess. It's probably just a combination of factors, the age of the building, the inherent stillness of a place that's seen a lot of...well, you know. And maybe your imagination running wild after a long shift. But honestly? That cold draft with closed windows is kinda freaky. I'd believe in ghosts a little more if I felt that.

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
