Heard the acoustics are killer, but also that the sound bleed between rooms can be a nightmare. Anyone been there for a concert or something similar? Worried my ears might be ringing for a week afterwards. Seriously, is the soundproofing worth a damn or should I invest in some serious earplugs?

honestly the sound bleed thing is overblown if you're in the main hall, it's the basement rooms that are the real problem. i went to a live band show there and the main room was fine, but walking past the small event space on B1 during a break was like stepping into a different concert. for earplugs i'd grab the Loop ones from the Loft in Shinjuku station, they're like 3000 yen and don't muffle the sound as much as the foam ones. also pro tip the convenience store across the street has cheaper drinks than the venue bar, like half the price for a water

Been to Belle Salle Shinjuku Ground a few times for different events. The acoustics in the main hall are pretty decent, yeah, they've got a good setup. But the sound bleed? Oh boy. It's real. Depending on what's happening in the other rooms, you might hear things, not always enough to ruin the experience, but definitely noticeable. I wouldn't say it's a nightmare, but bring earplugs if you're sensitive to noise. Better safe than sorry, especially for a whole concert.

ngl the main hall sound is solid, they invested in a d&b audiotechnik system that punches way above its weight for a venue that size. but yeah the bleed is insane between the smaller rooms on the same floor, especially if they've got bass-heavy acts going. i'd grab some earplugs anyway, not just for bleed but because they crank the volume in there to compensate for the crowd noise, my ears were ringing after a loud dj set last month. if you're near the back of the main hall the sound actually gets muddy from all the reflections off those glass walls, so try to stand closer to the front or middle.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
