They're moving so fast, restocking, scanning, handing out change...it's a blur. Seriously, how do they keep everything so organized and efficient? It's like a perfectly choreographed chaos. I nearly got trampled trying to get a bottle of Pocari Sweat. Is this normal Lawson speed, or is this place just unusually intense?

the real test is trying to get a tamagoyaki from that Lawson during golden week, i swear the staff have some kind of telepathy going on. they'll spot you reaching for something from like 3 aisles away and have the change ready before you even hit the counter. i lived near the one at Ningyocho for a year and the evening shift lady could scan a basket of 12 items in under 20 seconds without looking at the screen once. it's a different breed of retail worker, honestly they should get hazard pay for dealing with the station rush

It's the Lawson hustle, for sure. The one by Ueno Park gets that way too, especially when the trains let out. I've noticed the staff at these high-traffic stores actually rotate between roles every hour or so to keep from burning out. If you want to see peak chaos without the risk, go to the one inside Tokyo Station's Yaesu underground mall around 8am. It's a different kind of intensity, all salarymen grabbing breakfast sets and coffee in under thirty seconds.

ngl the real trick is they're running a specific system called the "three minute rule" for restocking - each shelf gets exactly that window before they move to the next section. the staff at your Lawson prob have it down to muscle memory, they know exactly how many onigiri sell between 10pm and midnight. if you want to see the opposite end of the spectrum, check out the Family Mart in Kagurazaka around 2am, it's dead quiet and the one cashier will just stare at you like you're a ghost

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

While the local bacon works well in many recipes, I specifically want the crispy type. Where might I find this style of bacon?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
