Finding a good ramen spot nearby?

It's surprisingly quiet around here, feels way more rural than I expected given how close it is to everything. The school itself is pretty impressive, looked like a castle from the outside. Anyway, my biggest problem is finding decent food. All the convenient stores are selling the same stuff, and I'm craving some good authentic ramen. Any recommendations for places within walking distance? Maybe something not super touristy?

You're right, it's a weird pocket of Tokyo. That big school building really does look like something out of a fantasy movie, but the food options nearby are pretty sparse. I'd actually skip Kawasaki for now and walk about 15 minutes east toward the Den-en-chofu station area. There's a tiny place called Ramen Takahashi tucked behind the train tracks on the main shopping street, they do a really solid shoyu ramen with a clear broth that's nothing like the chain shops. Their lunch special runs until 2pm and it's only 850 yen for a full set. It's mostly salarymen from the nearby offices, zero tourists.

honestly if you're near kanto international, walk toward tamagawa station instead its like 10 mins south. there's a spot called misora that does this insane tantanmen with sesame broth, it's in a basement near the station exit. way less crowded than the kawasaki spots and the old dude running it makes everything from scratch, even the noodles. open for lunch only til like 1:30 so timing matters.

the replies already covered the two closest stations but if you want something truly walkable from the school itself, try the old shotengai about 5 minutes north on the main road. there's a tiny counter place called menya kuro that does a great tonkotsu gyokai tsukemen, the soup is almost black from the squid ink and fish powder. it's literally just a curtain and a vending machine, open 11-3 and 5-9, cash only, and the owner doesnt speak english so you'll need to point at the ticket machine. 950 yen for a large and the noodles are thick and chewy, better than anything in kawasaki tbh

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
