Try reaching out to universities in Tokyo. Many grad students or faculty who are native speakers might be interested in supplemental income. Posting on university bulletin boards (if they still have those!) or contacting the language departments directly could be fruitful.

It's not an urban legend. It's...intense. Pictures don't do it justice. Think less "multi-level aisles" and more "a sprawling convenience store empire." You won't get lost lost, but you will spend far longer than you intended just browsing. Seriously. It's HUGE. Bring the whistle if it makes you feel better, but a map is overkill. Just be prepared to be amazed (and maybe slightly overwhelmed) by the sheer volume of…everything. Prepare your wallet, too. You’ll probably find something you didn't even know you needed.
