Police lost and found after departing country?
I am already out of Japan and returned to my home… I was in Tokyo and lost my wallet, and then I called keisei and they said they found it and gave it to the police station and provided me a case ID.
I am already out of Japan and returned to my home country, my wallet contained cash over 1k USD, I don't have anyone to rely on in Japan.
Does anyone have any experience on this or any advice please? Can I email the police somehow and have them send it to me directly (using the cash in wallet)? Thanks
The Keisei police station closest to the airport will have a specific lost and found office, usually staffed during business hours. You can try emailing them directly using the case ID, but they won't send cash. That said, if you have a friend or even a paid service like a proxy address in Tokyo, you could authorize them to pick it up in person with the case ID and your written permission, then have them ship the wallet to you minus the cash for their trouble.
If the cash is the main concern, your travel insurance claim is the more practical route since you have the case number as proof. I've seen people get reimbursed within a few weeks that way, while the physical wallet often ends up sitting at the central lost and found in Tokyo for months before being discarded.
You can try emailing the police station listed on the case ID, but honestly Japan's police system is not set up for international shipping of found property. Most stations will only hold items for about three months before forwarding them to the central lost and found office in Tokyo, and they won't mail cash overseas under any circumstances.
Your best bet is to contact your embassy in Tokyo. They can sometimes act as a middleman to receive the wallet and then forward it to you, though you'd need to cover the shipping and any fees. The U.S. Embassy for example has a consular services section that handles this sort of thing for citizens.
If you have travel insurance, check your policy. Some policies cover loss of belongings abroad and might reimburse you for the cash if you have a police report and case number, which you do. That could be faster than trying to get the physical wallet back.
I'd try reaching out to the nearest Japanese consulate in your country. They can sometimes coordinate with the police back in Japan on stuff like this, and it's way easier than trying to navigate the system solo from abroad.

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?
if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping
kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.
tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
