Going to Comicon tomorrow for the first time. Any need to be there early?

There is one artist selling something I really want, but besides that nothing I'm in a huge "rush" to go and see. I just want to make sure there is no other reason to be there more than an hour early

The last time I went to Comicon at Tokyo Big Sight, I got there around 9:30 and the line was already stretching past the station. If that artist you want is popular, even 10 am might mean they've sold out of the really limited stuff by the time you get inside. The morning rush is no joke, so I'd say aim for 8:30 or 9 at the latest if you want a real shot at their goods.

If it's a popular artist with limited prints or goods, 10 am might be cutting it close. I've seen lines wrap around Tokyo Big Sight way before doors open for stuff like that. For general browsing though, 10 am is totally fine and you'll avoid the worst of the morning crush. Just be ready for the crowd inside once the doors actually open, it gets pretty packed fast.

tbh it depends on which artist. if theyre doing a limited run of like 20 prints or something, 10 am is prob too late. ive seen people camp out at big sight before sunrise for the really big names. but if its just a regular booth with stock that lasts the whole weekend, rolling in at 10 is fine. the line to get in moves pretty fast once doors open around 9, so you could show up at 9 and still be inside by 10:30ish. just check their socials the night before to see if they mentioned a set quantity

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
