I want a place that teaches at a quick pace and has a lot of homework, as I really learn best with homework. I live in Chiba but happy to really go wherever in Tokyo to learn. I've done some research on schools but some of them are so expensive! So I'd love to hear your thoughts, please.

honestly check out coto academy in iidabashi. they have a part time intensive option that's like 3 hours a day but they pack it with homework and it's way cheaper than the full time places. i did their evening course for a bit and the pace was solid, plus they let you pay month to month so no huge upfront cost

if you're in chiba, the akihabara branch of arc academy might work too. it's a straight shot on the sobu line and their part time course is about 80k a month which is decent for tokyo. they give a lot of worksheets and kanji drills if that's ur thing

if you're coming from chiba, consider genki jacs in shinjuku. it's right by the station so the transfer isn't too bad. their intensive course runs 4 hours a day but you can do just the morning slot which leaves your afternoons free for work. it's around 90k a month but they structure the homework like daily assignments plus a weekend packet, so you get that constant practice youre after. i had a friend who did it while working part time at a conbini and she kept up fine

another option is isi language school in takadanobaba. their evening intensive is 3 hours but they give you a ton of grammar drills and reading homework compared to others i've seen. it's about 75k and the teachers are strict about turning stuff in, which sounds like your vibe. the baba area also has cheap eat spots for dinner before you head back east

Best aquarium in Tokyo 2026: Ocean Center worth it?

Any recs for a clinic near Shinagawa that takes national health insurance, and what a walk-in visit usually runs? Also, is the aquarium actually worth the ticket price in 2026 or should we just do Sunshine Aquarium instead?

Sunshine Aquarium is the better rainy-day pick with kids, and Maxell Aqua Park handles strollers easier than Ocean Center's ramps.

yeah the ramps there are rough with a stroller

maxell has that indoor dolphin show the kids wont forget, but check stroller storage before u go

Fair point, though Ikebukuro's indoor floor gets packed on rainy weekends, so go right at 10am opening.

For the back, try a seikotsuin instead of a clinic, they take insurance and walk-ins run about 1,500 yen.

Ocean Center's penguin and jellyfish halls justify the price, but weekend seikotsuin slots fill fast so call ahead.
