Should I apply to TIU or other university?

Due to reviews I had read, I am kinda hesitating to apply there. I only got GED, JLPT N2 and planning to take the IELTS exam at December. I am drop out of high school due to political situation at my country.

Should I apply it or wait one more year and just take SAT exams and apply for Waseda at 2026 or some Private university? Honestly I am kinda lost right now. My country made me dropped out of high school so I only finished to up grade 9. Circular activities are just scout group, Stem and First aid camp at grade 8 which I don't even think it will counts. I just wanted to left my country as soon as possible.

Honestly, appreciate any advises right now.

honestly, tiu is fine for what it is but it's not in the same league as waseda. waseda's application process is brutal even with a standard high school diploma, and without one you'd need to really impress them with SATs and essays. tiu is much more flexible with alternative backgrounds, and your N2 is a huge plus for them

if your main goal is just to leave as soon as possible, applying to tiu now makes more sense than waiting a whole year for waseda. you can always transfer later if you want, but getting out and starting somewhere is better than being stuck. plus you'll be in tokyo either way, which is what matters for the experience

fwiw i know a guy who dropped out of school in myanmar and got into tiu with basically the same stuff u have. n2 is huge for them cause they focus on japanese ability more than other schools. if u wait a year for waseda theres no guarantee theyll even accept your ged situation, so tiu now lets u lock in a spot and get out faster

tiu's got that global business program in english right? i think they also let u take japanese classes alongside which is smart since u already have n2. waseda's a whole different beast and honestly even with sat you'd be fighting an uphill battle without a proper high school transcript

if u just want out ASAP, tiu's the move. get in, get your visa sorted, and once you're here you can always try transferring later if you still want waseda. being in japan already gives you way more options than being stuck waiting a year back home

plus takadanobaba's a nice area to be stuck in for a couple years, lots of students around and good ramen shops

Bagel scam at Hole in One Tokyo 2026?

fmd_goodHole in One · #tokyo #bagel
Stopped by Hole in One in Tokyo for a bagel and the guy at the counter said the plain ones were sold out but he could sell me a "special reserve" one for 1800 yen if I paid cash. Felt off so I walked.… Stopped by Hole in One in Tokyo for a bagel and the guy at the counter said the plain ones were sold out but he could sell me a "special reserve" one for 1800 yen if I paid cash. Felt off so I walked. Is that a known thing there or did I just catch someone trying it on? Also is 1800 yen even normal for a bagel in that area?

Cash-only "reserve" is the tell.
