Can we add a karma requirement for this sub?

I've seen an influx of throwaway accounts with less than 100 karma asking tourist / low effort questions or unrelated photos (double stroller) and I'm wondering if it's a bot thing.

It keeps flooding my feed due to the Reddit algorithm and I'm wondering if it's doing the same for others.

ngl the karma threshold idea sounds clean but you'd be surprised how many real people here just lurk and have like 50 karma. i know a few folks who moved here for work and their reddit accounts are basically fresh. the double stroller thing is def weird though, mods probably need to just start banning those accounts manually instead of relying on automod

yeah i've noticed it too, especially with those double stroller posts lol. the problem is a karma floor would prob kill some legit questions from new residents who just moved here and don't have japanese sims yet. maybe something like a minimum account age instead, like 7 days, would catch more bots without blocking real people

Maybe a post flair system could help separate the tourist stuff from actual local discussion.

Whitebox in Tokyo 2026: Is It Still Worth It?

I used to go there for exhibitions all the time but I heard it's changed, and I'm wondering if the neighborhood is still worth living in or if it's all just turned into offices now.

yeah the old Whitebox spot got gutted around then, last I walked past it was a startup office on the upper floors. kuramae's decent but honestly Kiyosumi-Shirakawa side is quieter and the rents are still half of Shibuya. miyamasuzaka is basically all towers now.

kuramae's rents crept up too since the tawaman went in, kiyosumi side is still the better bet

whitebox actually closed back in 2018, the space is a gallery-slash-coworking thing now. shibuya's still fine to live in but the rents near miyamasuzaka have jumped hard, more office towers than studios these days. if you want that old creative vibe try kuramae or kiyosumi instead
