Hi! I'm a USA-based podcast producer. My team is trying to set up a remote podcast interview with Tokyo-based talent. She's based near Shibuya.

We have found plenty of recording studios for music artists, but are still trying to find a podcast-friendly studio with 4k video capabilities since our podcast gets released on YouTube as well.

Anybody have any suggestions?

I'd actually recommend looking at Tune Studio in Ebisu, which is one stop from Shibuya on the Yamanote Line. They specifically designed their Room A for video-first podcast work, with a Sony FX6 and broadcast-grade lighting that's already dialed in. The engineer they have on staff used to work at NHK's production arm, so he's particular about chroma key backgrounds and eye-line matching for remote interviews. It runs about 18,000 yen per hour but you don't need to bring any gear or worry about camera settings.

Another option is Sound City in Roppongi, not far from Shibuya on the Hibiya Line. They have a TV production background so their rooms are built for video from the ground up, not retrofitted. The podcast suite they call Studio B has a 4k PTZ camera setup and you can pipe in remote guests through Zoom or Teams without any audio sync headaches. Bookings go through their Japanese site but they've handled international clients before and the staff speaks enough English to sort out technical specs. It's about 12,000 yen per hour for that room.

Try Studio Grow near Shibuya. They have a dedicated podcast setup with multiple 4k cameras and proper sound isolation, not just a music booth they're repurposing. It's a short walk from Shibuya Station's Hachiko exit, about 5 minutes toward Omotesando. They rent by the hour and the engineer there knows how to frame for vertical and horizontal simultaneously.

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
