I was already mentally switching to autumn and loved to drink my coffee in the fresh morning but today's heat caught me off guard again and I'm just tired of hot weather.

Summer in Tokyo kinda traumatized me ngl and due to many health issues I don't really thrive in hot weather and the AC cold wasn't good for me at all. We already have October it should be enough!

When does it already cool down??

i swear every year i forget that tokyo has this weird second summer thing where it gets hot again right when you think it's over. it's like the city is trolling us. the real relief usually comes after the typhoons pass through and drag the humidity away with them, so maybe keep an eye on the weather maps for that.

if the ac is rough on you, have you tried hitting up a sento in the evening? the one in yanaka has a nice outdoor bath that's warm but not suffocating, and the walk back through the old streets in the cooler air is genuinely nice. beats sitting in a box with the ac blasting.

October in Tokyo is a liar, honestly. You get a couple of crisp mornings and then the city remembers it's still sitting in a heat island. It usually doesn't settle down until mid-to-late October, when we finally start getting those clear, dry days with low humidity.

The worst part is that the "autumn" we're waiting for only lasts about two weeks before it gets properly cold. If the heat is really getting to you, try an early morning walk along the Meguro River before the sun hits the concrete. The shade from the cherry trees actually makes a difference.

the heat island effect is real here, shinjuku and other dense areas stay 2-3 degrees warmer than the outskirts all night. if you can, try spending a weekend in chichibu or okutama, it's 5-8 degrees cooler and you can actually breathe. the AC thing is tough, i switched to a tower fan and a damp towel on my neck, helps me avoid the direct cold while still staying tolerable. mid-october is usually when the humidity finally breaks, hang in there

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
