Does anyone know of a doctor (Tokyo, Kawasaki area) who gives 3 monthly prescriptions? (or at least 2 monthly)?

Background: My (cardio) doc gives me a prescription (for blood pressure, statin meds) but only for 30 days, although Japanese law says they can give prescriptions for up to 90 days. When I asked for 2 or 3 month prescription, she said she prefers to give 1 month prescriptions. So I have to visit the clinic and pay 1500yen every month just to get the paper).

She doesnt do anything besides taking blood pressure and saying お変わりありませんか (no change?). I have detailed tests done in a big hospital twice a year, so the monthly visits to are unnecessary -- just an easy extra income earner for the doc.

honestly try a clinic that's more focused on lifestyle disease prevention, like the ones near big train stations that advertise "生活習慣病外来". i've had luck at 川崎駅前内科クリニック near the east exit, they gave me 2 months for my thyroid meds without even asking. just say you travel for work or something, they're used to it. also check if your health insurance covers online rechecks, some docs will mail the prescription after a quick video call for 500yen.

try a clinic thats not attached to a hospital, something small and old school. the doctor at 大森内科 in kawasaki gave me 3 months for my bp meds after i said i was moving for work. no questions asked, just a quick check and handed me the paper.

Yeah, I've run into the same issue with a few clinics around here. You might have better luck at a bigger internal medicine clinic, like the ones attached to a hospital (like 川崎市立川崎病院 or 川崎医科大学附属病院) where they're more used to handling chronic meds for 2-3 months at a time. Just tell them upfront you want a 90-day prescription for stability, and they're usually fine with it since you're already doing your own tests elsewhere.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
