Item storage for month long period?

Is there some service in Tokyo where I can store a fairly large item, say 1.5m x 0.5m x 0.5m and 12 kg or so? So mayb the size of two suitcases placed end to end. Short term lockers aren't a solution. Need longer term storage space, but nothing as large as a small room (that would by typical in U.S. storage units). Seems like what I want would be a service that would store my large item for a month or two. Does such a thing exist?

yeah there's a few options for this actually. check out トランクルーム (trunk rooms) - they're basically small storage lockers, not full rooms. Cube in Shibuya and Kuroneko Yamato's storage service both do monthly rentals for stuff that size. prices are usually around 3000-5000 yen per month depending on location and access type.

another option is to use a luggage forwarding service like takkyubin - Yamato and Sagawa both have long-term storage programs that work well for suitcases. you just drop it at a convenience store or have them pick it up, then theyll hold it for up to a month. cheaper than a trunk room if you only need a month or two.

just keep in mind most places need you to book ahead and some have minimum storage periods. the Yamato service is prob the easiest for foreigners since their counters are everywhere and the staff are used to dealing with short-term storage requests.

You could try using a coin locker at a major station like Tokyo or Shinjuku that does multi-day rentals, but for a month you'd need the biggest size and it gets pricey. Another option is to see if your short-term apartment agency has a storage partner, sometimes they offer it as an add-on service for regular guests.

honestly the easiest route might be to just ask your apartment management or landlord, some of them have small storage spaces in the building they'll let you use for a few thousand yen a month. also check out places like Storage Oasis or Hello Storage, they have smaller lockers that are more like closet sized, not a whole room. prices are reasonable and you can access during biz hours

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
