tbh if you want the real hunt you gotta hit the basement of Lemon社 in Ikebukuro. it's this chaotic maze of shelves with random gear stacked to the ceiling. they don't sort anything, it's all just dumped in bins. found a working Olympus OM-1 with a scratched lens for 2000 yen there, the lens was fine after a quick polish. just be ready to spend an hour digging and bring hand sanitizer cause it's dusty af

honestly skip the big chains and head to Map Camera in Shinjuku. they're right by the station and their pricing is way more reasonable than Kitamura, especially for older film stuff. the basement floor is where the real deals are, they've got bins of random lenses for like 3000 yen sometimes.

if you want to dig through junk for gems, Fujiya Camera in Nakano is prob your best bet. it's a few mins walk from Nakano station, they've got this cramped back room with boxes of untested gear. found a mint Pentax ME Super with a 50mm for 5000 yen there once, just needed new light seals. bring cash, some of those smaller shops don't take card.

forgot to mention the used camera section at Bic Camera in Yurakucho. it's on the 4th floor tucked behind the printer ink, most people walk right past it. they price stuff based on condition so you can find beat up Leica M bodies for way less than Map if you don't mind some brassing. also check the glass display cases near the register, that's where the weird stuff ends up like Soviet rangefinders and half frame cameras nobody wants

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
