Hello Guys I play in one of the most revered Rock bands in Portugal. Recently we were invited from our Portuguese Embassy to do a showcase in Tokyo. Soo we are planing to book a club mini tour around tokyo. Can anyone help with that?? how the rock club sc

For a band coming through an embassy invite, the live house circuit is where you want to aim rather than the big "club" names in Shibuya. Look at places like Koenji's Show Boat or Higashi-Koenji's 20000V, they book loud stuff and the staff actually answer emails in English if you keep it short. Shimokitazawa also has a cluster (Shelter, Basement Bar, Three) but those rooms are tiny, maybe 100 to 250 cap, so they suit a showcase more than a paying gig. Expect to cover the house fee yourself in most cases, and bring your own backline or rent it, since sharing amps is less common here than in Europe.

timing matters a lot here. book 2 to 3 months out minimum, and avoid fri/sat at first since those slots go to locals who bring a crowd. tuesday or wednesday nights are way easier to get and cheaper.

one thing nobody mentioned: the Portuguese community in Tokyo is small but tight, mostly around Nishikasai and Tsukishima. hit up the embassy's cultural attaché and see if they can connect you with the Nipo-Brazilian crowd too, they love rock and show up. a few of those faces in the room changes how promoters treat you on the next booking.

budget-wise expect 30k to 50k yen per live house for the night if you're renting the space, plus drink minimums. some places do a "noruma" system where you sell tickets and keep the difference, thats teh better deal if you can move 40 plus.

Also worth hitting up the booking folks at live houses directly through their 問い合わせ forms, most wont reply to a cold DM on instagram. And if your embassy gig is at a proper hall they might be able to intro you to a local promoter, that connection is gold here.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
