How many buildings over 8 stories are there in Tokyo as well as the metropolitan area?

Because over that height it would be classified as a high rise building. Also whether that figure is the highest in the world Because over that height it would be classified as a high rise building. Also whether that figure is the highest in the world

yeah but the whole "over 8 stories" thing is a bit arbitrary for tokyo. most of the newer residential towers here are like 20-40 floors, especially around shiodome or tokyo station. the real density is in those mixed-use complexes that have like 4 floors of retail then 30 floors of offices above. if you count everything over 30m in the tokyo metro area youre prob looking at 10k+ but the official numbers are hard to pin down cause the building code separates things by use class not just height. hong kong and shenzhen definitely have more sheer volume though, tokyo's skyline is actually pretty spread out compared to theirs

tbh that classification thing is tricky in japan. teh building standard law defines high rise as over 31m which is usually 10 floors, not 8. but if you're going by 8 stories you're prob looking at tens of thousands across the metro area. minato and shinjuku wards alone have over 400 buildings above 60m each. but yeah no way we beat shenzhen or hong kong for total count now. their density is just insane.

honestly just google it. this has been asked a thousand times. tokyo has thousands of high rises but it depends if you mean the 23 wards or the whole metro area. probably not the highest in the world anymore after places like shenzhen and hong kong went crazy. but

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
