I was going to 7/11 to pay my bills, stopped by Japanese teen boy ( assuming ). He asked me whether I know English or not in English I said yes then immediately he said he wanted to take hair cut but he has only 1000 yen and wanted 350 yen more. Actually he is infront of salon. I had money but bit hesitant at first but I have 300 yen and gave him ( I don't want to give 1000 yen note ). I said I don't have 50 yen and left. He also left that place towards the station. I am not sure if am i scammed or not ? Did anyone encountered this situation?

You're fine, 300 yen is about what I lose in the vending machine when I hit the wrong button. That specific "I need 350 yen for a haircut" pitch is pretty common around the bigger stations in Kanagawa, I've seen it near Kawasaki station a few times. The kid probably just moves on to the next person if you don't bite.

nah you're fine, 300 yen is basically nothing here. sounds like a kid trying to hustle a quick haircut money, not a real scam. the real scams are the guys near shibuya or shinjuku trying to get you into bars or clubs with fake drink prices. you gave him less than a combini bento, i wouldn't lose sleep over it

300 yen is basically a vending machine coffee, so you're not out much. That said, this sounds like the standard sob story hustle I've seen around Yokohama station and Kawasaki. They usually hit you with something urgent and specific so you don't have time to think. Next time just say "chotto matte" and keep walking, they'll find someone else.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
