Sorry if this is not for this sub.

Is there any retailer in Tokyo that carries official XBOX controllers with instore demo units?

I'm debating buying an XBOX controller for my PC, but have only found 3rd party options in store, and if they do carry official MS controllers, they don't have a display unit.

And because JPN is such a staunch supporter of switch/PS5, I've yet to find a retail chain that has one on display. went to Bic in Yurakucho and the XBOX section was pitiful.

TIA

tbh the best place i found was at the yodobashi camera in shinjuku east exit, not the main one near the station. the gaming floor is on the 4th floor tucked behind the switch stuff, they had the forza horizon 5 edition controller on display with the rubberized grip which felt way better than the standard one. also if you dont mind used, the hard off in nakano broadway has a bin full of official xbox controllers for like 2500 yen, they let you plug it into one of their demo xboxes to test the sticks and buttons before buying

honestly, just check sofmap in akihabara, the one near the station. they've got a small but decent xbox corner with a couple controllers out, usually the standard ones but sometimes the lime green or camo if ur lucky. also, hard off or book off super bazaar often have used official ones for like 3000 yen less, and you can test em before buying since they have demo units in the back.

You're right that Xbox stuff is pretty thin on the ground here. Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara actually has a slightly better Xbox section than Bic, with a couple of controllers out on the floor near the gaming headsets. They usually have the standard black and white ones, and sometimes the Shock Blue or Pulse Red models if you want something less boring.

If you're set on testing one before buying, the official Microsoft store on the Microsoft Japan website also has a 30-day return policy on controllers, so you could order one, try it out at home, and send it back if you don't like it. That's what I did for my Series X pad.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
