I can't see anything past the Tsukishima/Harumi high rises. I can't find anything about this online, does anyone have any ideas? よろしくetc...

That's almost certainly the Sumida River Fireworks festival you're hearing. It's scheduled for July 27 this year, but the big display companies do test shots over the water in the weeks leading up to it. If you're facing east from Tsukiji, the sound bounces right off the high rises on Tsukishima. You won't see much from there, but if you walk north along the river toward Kachidoki Bridge around 7pm on the 27th, you'll have a clear view over the water.

honestly i think it might be the Toshimaen fireworks testing. they do prep shots over the bay in early july before the main show on the 28th. the sound travels weirdly from that spot across the water through the buildings. if you want to confirm next time grab the 都営大江戸線 to Kachidoki station and walk to the waterfront park, you'll see the barges setup even if they're just testing

It's probably not the Sumida River show just yet. Tokyo Bay has smaller fireworks events almost every weekend through summer, and July 3 is close enough to the weekend that someone might be running a test or a private corporate display. The sound carries really well across the water from Odaiba and around the Rainbow Bridge area. If you want to check what's actually happening, look up the Tokyo Bay fireworks calendar on the official Odaiba tourism site, they list the smaller shows that don't make the big news.

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

While the local bacon works well in many recipes, I specifically want the crispy type. Where might I find this style of bacon?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
