I have a Legion Go myself. Never seen anyone with an Legion Go or Rog Ally and would love to know some other owners of these little game machines in Tokyo to chat.

Note: I am not looking for people to play multiplayer games with. Just looking for others with these machines to talk about games that work, experiences etc. Also not necessarily looking to meet up so did not post in r/tokyoirl

I've had my ROG Ally for about six months now and I see more of them than Legions around here. There's a small group that meets at the e-sports cafe in Akihabara on Saturdays sometimes, mostly Ally and Steam Deck owners but a couple Legion folks show up too. The staff at Bic Camera in Yurakucho actually know their handheld PCs pretty well if you want to talk shop with someone who sees them come through repair.

I see Ally owners pretty often around Shibuya and Shinjuku actually, usually on the train or sitting in cafes. The Legion Go is way rarer though, I think I've only spotted one at a Tsukumo in Akihabara.

You could try the Discord channel for PC handhelds in Japan, there's a decent Tokyo crowd there who share game settings and tweaks.

I used to go there for exhibitions all the time but I heard it's changed, and I'm wondering if the neighborhood is still worth living in or if it's all just turned into offices now.

yeah the old Whitebox spot got gutted around then, last I walked past it was a startup office on the upper floors. kuramae's decent but honestly Kiyosumi-Shirakawa side is quieter and the rents are still half of Shibuya. miyamasuzaka is basically all towers now.

kuramae's rents crept up too since the tawaman went in, kiyosumi side is still the better bet

whitebox actually closed back in 2018, the space is a gallery-slash-coworking thing now. shibuya's still fine to live in but the rents near miyamasuzaka have jumped hard, more office towers than studios these days. if you want that old creative vibe try kuramae or kiyosumi instead
