Sorry for asking such a gross question, but I need some advice from people who have been here longer than me.

Basically, I'm trying to date in Tokyo, but I don't really feel comfortable with all the people staring etc if I wanted to cuddle/kiss. I don't wanna go "all the way", so I'd rather not go to a hotel. So far, I've just been at public parks after dark 😭 Would it be possible to cuddle/kiss at a net café with private rooms (such as Hailey'5)? Like, do they have cameras? Iirc karaoke rooms have cameras to prevent this kind of thing.

Sorry again for asking, but thanks for any advice! πŸ™‡β€β™€οΈ

Update: some of y'all seem to think that I'm being euphemistic. I legit am not looking to do anything... immoral or illegal. ALSO I've been researching Hailey'5 more and they honestly have a pretty sweet set up with a big TV, soundproofing, and controllable AC/lighiting, etc. BUT, I'm always looking for suggestions!

honestly for what you're asking, net cafes like Hailey'5 are fine. I've been to a few with friends just to crash and nobody cares as long as you're quiet. The private booths have doors that lock and the staff doesn't check on you unless you make noise or stay past your time. No cameras inside the booths themselves, just in the hallways and near the entrance.

if you want something more comfortable than a net cafe though, try a late-night manga cafe like Manga Souko in Shinjuku. They have bigger semi-private rooms with recliners and blankets, and it's way less awkward than a park. costs about 1500 yen for a few hours and you can just put a "do not disturb" sign on the door.

also jfyi, karaoke rooms do have cameras but they're usually only checked if there's a complaint or if you're being super loud. most places won't bother you for cuddling or light kissing as long as you're not causing a scene. I've seen couples do way more in karaoke boxes on a friday night and nobody said anything.

Net cafes are fine for what you're describing, but the chairs in most of them aren't great for two people. Hailey'5 has slightly bigger booths than some, but you're still in a recliner. If you want something with an actual flat surface to lie on, try a capsule hotel that allows daytime use. Nine Hours in Shinjuku lets you book 3-hour blocks for around 2000 yen and the capsules lock from inside. No cameras in the capsules themselves, just the common areas.

Another option is a late-night public bath like Oedo Onsen Monogatari in Odaiba. They have a relaxation area with these big cushioned loungers that are pretty private, especially in the darker corners. It's not a love hotel vibe at all, people just nap there. About 2500 yen for entry and you can stay as long as you want, but they close at 11pm last I checked.

The parks after dark thing is rough because cops do patrol popular spots like Yoyogi and Shinjuku Gyoen after hours. You're more likely to get a warning than trouble, but it's still not relaxing.

ngl you might be overthinking this a bit. net cafes like Hailey'5 are chill for what you're describing, the booths are private enough and nobody's watching you unless you're being loud. I've crashed at Manboo in Ikebukuro before and it's basically the same setup, just cheaper at like 1200 yen for a night pack. the recliners are a bit cramped for two though

if you want more space, try a late-night internet cafe with a "flat seat" option. there's one in Shibuya called Popeye that has these little semi-private cubbies with actual floor mats instead of chairs. about 1800 yen for an overnight stay and you can lie down properly. just don't leave trash around or they'll kick you out

also honestly the whole camera thing is overblown. karaoke places like Big Echo have cameras in the room but they're pointed at the door, not at you. nobody's watching the feed live unless there's a problem. I've seen couples making out in the corner booth at a karaoke place in Shimokitazawa and the staff literally did not care

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
